Information from School Nursing Team
The school nurse team at the Hertfordshire Community NHS Trust provides a range of different support groups, activities and service for children and families to help them be healthy, grow and develop, as well as providing information and support for children and young people who are caring for a family member or loved one at home.
As well as the duty school nurse line 0300 123 7572, which is available Monday to Friday 9am-5pm, there are also:
- An Instagram account for secondary school aged children, teenhealth.hct, where you can find advice and support specific to teen health,
- An Instagram account for parents and families, hct_schoolnursing, providing up to date health information/resources.
- An X account (formerly known as Twitter) HCT_SchoolNurse
- ChatHealth, a confidential text messaging service providing support and confidential advice for 11-19 year olds, run by the school nurse team on issues such as emotional health and well-being, relationships, sexual health & healthy eating to name a few. The text number is 07480 635 050.
Parents and professionals can use an online form to refer a child to the school nursing team via hct.nhs.uk/our-services/school-nursing/. Young people can also self refer.
